We Scored 100/100 on Our Own AI-Visibility Test: The Exact Checklist
We ran our own AI-Visibility Sweep on rivalpractice.com, scored 80, and fixed our way to 100. Here's the exact, reproducible checklist any tax or law firm can follow to become fully AI-ready.

Answer
To reach a perfect AI-visibility readiness score, a firm's homepage needs eight things an AI engine can read without guessing: HTTPS, a clear title and meta description, business/organization schema, FAQ schema, Open Graph tags, and a clickable way to contact you. We ran our own Sweep on rivalpractice.com, scored 80, and closed the two gaps it flagged — missing FAQ structured data and no clickable contact — plus hardened our security headers. The result: a legitimate, reproducible 100.
Why we tested our own site on our own tool
It's easy to sell an AI-visibility audit. It's harder to pass one. So before we asked another tax firm to run the Sweep, we pointed it at ourselves — and published the result, warts and first.
Our first score was 80 out of 100. Not bad, but not the "fully AI-ready" grade we tell prospects to aim for. The report told us exactly what was missing, we fixed it in an afternoon, and the score climbed to a clean 100. Everything below is what changed — and it's the same checklist we'd hand any firm that wants to be the one AI recommends.
The eight signals an AI-visibility scan actually reads
An AI answer engine can't "browse" your site the way a person does. It reads the raw, machine-parsable signals in your page and decides whether it understands your firm well enough to name it. These are the eight that move the needle.
Foundational
Secure connection (HTTPS)
A trust prerequisite. Anything served over plain HTTP is a credibility and ranking liability before the engine reads a single word.
Identity
Title + meta description
The one-line summary the engine leans on to understand who you are and what you do. Specific beats generic every time.
Structured data
Organization / business schema
JSON-LD that names your firm as a single, unambiguous entity — so the engine cites you instead of hedging.
Answer feed
FAQPage schema
The most direct way to hand an answer engine the exact questions your clients ask — and your answers, verbatim.
Sharing
Open Graph tags
Clean title, description, and image metadata for how your firm renders when it's linked, quoted, or previewed.
Routing
Clickable contact
A real mailto: or tel: link so an engine can route a ready-to-hire prospect straight to you.
Two of those eight were missing on our own homepage.
The two gaps that cost us 20 points
Before — 80/100
What the Sweep flagged
- No FAQ structured data — no easy way to feed answers to AI engines.
- No clickable contact details for an engine to route prospects.
- Security headers (HSTS, MIME-sniffing protection) missing.
After — 100/100
What we shipped
- A real FAQ section backed by FAQPage schema.
- A clickable "Contact us" link and contact point in our schema.
- Baseline security headers on every response.
The exact fixes, step by step
Publish a real FAQ — then mark it up
Write the six questions prospects actually ask an AI about your firm ("what does it do," "who is it for," "how much," "how do I start") and answer each in a few plain sentences. Put them on the page as a visible FAQ, then wrap the same content in FAQPage schema. Schema without visible content is a red flag; visible content without schema is a missed opportunity. Do both.
Make contact one click and machine-readable
Add a real mailto: (and, if you have a tracked line, a tel:) link in your footer, and add a contact point to your Organization schema. An engine that can't find a way to reach you won't hand a prospect a dead end — it hands them a competitor.
Harden your headers
Set HTTPS enforcement (HSTS) and MIME-sniffing protection (X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff) on every response, plus a sensible referrer and frame policy. These don't change your marketing, but they signal a professionally-run site — exactly the credibility layer an audit checks.
Re-scan and confirm
Run the Sweep again. Structured signals are deterministic — fix them and the score moves the same day. We watched ours go from 80 to 100 across five consecutive runs.
Why the security panel matters even though it isn't the score
A prospect deciding whether to trust you with their IRS transcripts, SSNs, and financial records reads credibility signals whether they realize it or not. The Sweep surfaces the same ones an engine and a cautious client both notice: encrypted connection, HSTS, MIME-sniffing protection, and no mixed content. Ours now shows four green checks. That panel isn't part of the numeric grade — but it's the part a nervous client screenshots.
The honest part: you can't fake being known
A perfect readiness score means your site is fully legible to AI — every signal an engine needs is present and unambiguous. It does not mean an AI already knows your firm by name. Recognition is earned over time through consistent listings, real reviews, and third-party mentions the models were trained on. Readiness makes you eligible to be named on every question that matters; presence is what gets you named. The checklist above wins you the first, reliably and this week. The second is the long game — and it starts with being eligible.
Q&A
How long does it take to move the score?
The structured signals are deterministic. Add the schema, contact link, and headers, and the readiness portion of the score updates as soon as the page is redeployed — usually the same day.
Do I need a developer?
The FAQ content and a contact link are non-technical. The schema and headers are a small one-time developer task — or something we handle for you if we build and run your site.
